Speaker Name: Stacey Carlson, BTR, CTRS (2010 Douglas College Grad)

Speaker Bio: I am originally from Mission, British Columbia. After researching different career paths, I discovered the Therapeutic Recreation program at Douglas College. During my time at Douglas College, I worked at Bradford Woods, a therapeutic recreation summer camp, in Indiana for two summers. It was there that I experienced some of the most meaningful moments of my life and where I also met my soon to be husband. I completed my internship in Chicago at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago where I was involved with the US Paralympic Team as well as The Wounded Warriors Project. After obtaining my degree from Douglas College in 2010 and becoming certified as a CTRS, I married my husband and moved to Dallas, Texas. During our stay in Dallas, I became an independent contractor working with the Texas Medicaid Waiver. After four years in Dallas, we moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana to be closer to family. I currently work as a Recreation Therapist for Meaningful Day Services which provides at home and community based services to people with Developmental Disabilities through Indiana’s Medicaid Waiver.
