Please join us for a discussion on the role of a Recreation Therapy intern working within Fraser Health and Surrey Urban Mission Society. It covers the experience of supporting individuals in shelter and supportive housing settings, many of whom live with mental health challenges, substance use, and the impacts of trauma. The presentation reflects on the intern’s role in planning and facilitating programming, building therapeutic relationships, and navigating common challenges such as client engagement and advocating for the value of Recreation Therapy. Insights gained throughout the internship highlight the meaningful impact of consistent, person-centered support.
