This case history summarizes the treatment of a woman with schizophrenia. This case also discusses the family leisure education and the work done by the unit recreation therapist and the treatment team. This case was chosen due to the severity of the patient’s symptoms, the lack of previous hospitalizations and the increase in social and independent functioning over the fifteen months of treatment on the unit.
