Recreation Program Coordinator

The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking a dynamic Recreation Program Coordinator with solid skills in delivering community recreation programs. This supervisory position will coordinate the growth and development of recreation programs with a focus on the 50+ population. In addition, the work involves training and evaluating staff, evaluating programs and ensuring a high level of customer service.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in seniors and recreation programming in a municipal setting as well as a strong working knowledge of industry trends. Additionally, qualified candidates will have experience training and mentoring volunteers.
The successful candidate will have completed a university or community college program with a degree or diploma in community recreation, gerontology or related discipline plus sound related supervisory experience, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Education and/or training in gerontology are assets. A Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia (with satisfactory driving record) is required. The successful candidate will be required to work some evening and weekends.
The CUPE hourly rate of pay is $31.60 – $37.18 (2020 rates) along with comprehensive health & wellness benefits and an earned day off program. Applicants under consideration will be required to provide a Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check (with no adverse reports).
