The City of Coquitlam is currently seeking a dynamic Recreation Program Coordinator for our Dogwood Pavilion location. This supervisory position will be responsible for coordinating the growth and development of a variety of recreation programs, particularly in the area of seniors. In addition, as the successful candidate, you will identify community needs to formulate new and/or revised recreational programs in order to satisfy the public’s interests.

Furthermore, you will plan, assign, supervise, and recruit the work of instructors and volunteers, and ensure that a high level of customer service is met. You will also have strong relationship building skills in order to maintain a variety of relations with internal and external contacts, as well as members of the community. More specifically, you will be responsible for maintaining strong relations with the Dogwood Seniors Society to ensure seniors and patrons are receiving excellent service. Finally, you will have a strong knowledge of health promotion for seniors and an understanding of their recreational needs.

If you are passionate about performing supervisory work in a Recreational facility, and enjoy working with a wide variety of individuals, particularly seniors, we look forward to your application!

The successful candidate will have graduated from a University or community college with a degree or diploma in community recreation or a related field. You will also have at least 3 years of related supervisory or volunteer coordination experience. Please note that an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Please also note that experience working with seniors, as well as experience working with community groups and/or advisory boards are assets. A valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.

The CUPE hourly rate of pay is $32.87 – $38.68 (2022 rates) along with comprehensive health & wellness benefits and an earned day off program is offered.
