While completing recreation therapy assessments with clients on the Vancouver Coastal Health Grandview-Woodlands community MHSU team, it was determined a number of clients demonstrated a need for psychosocial education on what anxiety is and how it can impact one’s social connections and sense of belonging. The program Conversations 101 was developed from a recreation therapy perspective in collaboration with psychiatry to address this gap in knowledge. Completed as an internship service learning project for her supervisor Courtney Steen, CTRS, Emina Bajric, CTRS will review the development and implementation of Conversations 101, the pros and cons of collaborating with a psychiatrist for program development/delivery and highlight client successes.
